Working Collectively
I'm not sure about everyone in the class but this is the 1st time I have tried to work collectively. I don't know to much about how to work collectively and I feel like this is an experiment, I came across this book about working within a group, it has some theories that I guess can be seen as guidelines. We all kind of have this going already within the class room but I kind of feel like we are all different pages and honestly I am confused. So heres the Link to the book, and chapter 3 seems to deal with the different theories. Leave a comment and let me know what you think. I just feel like this could be a starting point because right now I feel like we are all quite scattered and maybe some of the points that the book makes can be incorporated. Chapter 3 starts on page 30.

It seems like every group that forms has to struggle to some extent--finding out who are the strong personalities, who are the ones that get things done, who are the slackers...etc.
ReplyDeleteI think our group works very well dividing up tasks and following through when we know where we're going. I just don't know that we all have a clear idea of where we're going and how to get there in the most efficient way. I feel like some questions need to be answered to give us more direction: When are we going to pick a site to focus on exclusively? When are we going to start drawings? How many shacks are we going to build?
i agree jen, we all should have some direct questions and work on some concrete answers. it all seems so abstract at this point and its hard to grasp what we are expected of and where our research should be going.
ReplyDeleteYes, Jenn. You have made some very valid points. I think we need more direction and collective understanding of our goals, but many of the variables for the goals have not been determined. Hopefully after meeting on Wednesday with our project partners, we will have more focus, which will lead us to visualizing what we are working towards.
ReplyDeleteWorking in a group can be very dynamic. But on the other hand it could be clousterfobic.. Every student has their own questions about what is interesting to work
ReplyDeleteon or what should be important. You can define your own goals and bring them in. Working it out next to the other students could work inspiring when you feel
there are possibilities for cross-overs. So in the beginning you can start allone, in the same space where the other student are also working. On the end you need
eachother working together on the village. Discussing about starting working together could lead to a dead end. Work on your own defenitions, find your own ideas
and try to find out how it could lead to an open end jumping in for other students. Dont make finished products, work on the ideas or themes wich could be inspiring,
interesting or relevant.
So the chickenchackvillage could be very realistic, a good answer about whats going on in the world, craftmanship, humoristic, theater, making dreams come true,
fantastic new way of envirement, wild west, etc. Chairs for chicken, one big interior freespace for chickens, chickencastles.
Make it also your own project, on the end where you are proud about, some individual thoughts, ideas mixing with other ideas and in a group on eachother ideas.
Make a script for the two weeks of building and designing.
Whats on a chickens mind?
Does chicken love other animals?
When does a chicken want to be alone, when do they like to be with other ch.?
Could there be a space, or architecture where a chicken is proud at?
Do chickens see colour?
When chickens dont think can you make a story what a chicken should think in your case?
Are there upper-chickens and downunder-chickens? Could that be an inspiration for making space and chacks?
How could the backyardplot be integrated with the chickenchackvill?
Could any material be part of the Vill?
Do chicken like to be downstairs or upstairs, do they want to chance?
So far, Succes and it was nice meeting you all scyping wednesday!
